I was waiting to be seated at a fine restaurant in Orlando, FL last night and the manager, seeing my SMU shirt, said "Man you guys have great coach in Larry Brown!". I replied yes we do indeed! Wonderful that people know us by our excellent coach.

granted, this belongs on the football forum and I do live in South Carolina, but was in the grocery store today wearing my SMU t-shirt when a guy asks "how do you like your new coach?" (referring to Chad Morris). Told him we were pleased and hope we finally have a coaching staff that will be able to recruit better players. He was an older guy and commented "based on what he did for Clemson, I have no doubt he will" and went on to add "I really enjoyed watching the Pony Express back in the day".
Yes; we definitely have coaches that are causing people to notice SMU again

I think disheartened is the wrong word in the headline. Pissed off is closer. It was interesting to read that had the ncaa done this earlier he would have made the seniors transfer so they could play. He is really an amazing coach and leader.

"One thing that really bothers me is if we had gotten the penalty sooner, my three seniors could have transferred," Brown says. "I would have made them transfer so they could play in the postseason. … Instead of 6-8 weeks, it took 18 weeks."
Wtf. So transfer to play 1 to ~8 additional games in your career?

We pay the dual head coach $3mil to win games for SMU not to farm out players.

Lip service statement he has to make. Further shows preposterous nature of NCAA etc. In a general sense, Fifty has it right. I sometimes waiver on whether Brown sees it that way. He's still pretty damn acute, if not savvy, to drop that sort of statement when we know he would have fought to keep them here.

Agreed, Brown cultivates the same attitude he learned from Dean Smith, the players/coaches are family and once you are family you are family for life and he will do everything he can to help you achieve your goals (even at the expense of his). It's probably the reason players like Keith and Marcus have stuck in even after all of the Drama/B.S. the NCAA has thrown at them.
