UCONN at 20 and SMU unranked. Typical.

It seems that some voters will probably not vote for us due to the NCAA sanction.

While that may or may not be the case we play Michigan and Gonzaga. So we can make a case for the top 25 during the season. But all in all the AAC did not get any respect. I thought Cincinnati and Possibly Temple should deserve more consideration.

SMU was at #18 to end the year last year and we return pretty much everyone. Everyone who won the title on UCONN's home court - plus key newcomers.
But a Vanderbilt team that went 9-9 in the SEC last year (and was never ranked all year) deserves to be ranked #18...what a load.

Wasn't UCONN unranked in the AP poll the year they had the postseason ban? I thought it was a fact that teams that aren't eligible for the postseason aren't ranked by the AP poll.

Really...Three? KD will be right where he was all of last year at the end of the bench.
I will grant you the other two - but we are adding in Frazier, Semi, Tolbert - none of which are freshmen. We will also have a back up point guard this year - something we lacked last year...nick can actually play aggressive D this year - will be fun to watch.

We're No. 27, so just two spots out. We're only out by a few points/votes.
Win the first few games and we're in.

other than Michigan and a single vote for Yale, none of our 2015 non-conference opponents are very well thought of so this year's team will need some convincing wins (and probably can't afford any losses) if they want to crack the Top 25 by the time conference play rolls around. Road game at Stanford will be tough

Aren't you forgetting about Gonzaga? Unless you were talking about the 2015 calendar year. We play them at Moody in February, I'm pumped for that game; big fan of Wiltjer and Karnowski. Anyway, beating them would do wonders for our ranking, which we'll definitely need. Voters don't seem to like the AAC this season, I really thought Cincy would be ranked along with us.

So you think people are allowed to vote for us in the poll and they are just going to always keep us out of the top 25? How would that work? You are thinking of the coaches poll which excludes teams not eligible for the tournament.

Rankings at this time of year are usually insane. Half of the teams that are being
ranked will be out of the top 25 and some teams that no one believed in will have
worked their way in.
If we can beat Stanford, Michigan, and win the Las Vegas tournament we should
do well in the rankings going into conference play. Those are tough games.
On paper, I have been saying that we should be a top 10 team; however, we don't
know if Keith will stay eligible, we don't know if Emelogu will be the player that
Larry thought when we brought him here; we don't know how Tolbert and Semi
will blend with the rest of the team; and we don't know how long it will take
Sed, Shake, and Jarrey to become college players; and we don't know about injuries.
Having said all of that, I would like to hope and believe that we will have a great year.
