Zone vs Man

Postby PonyTime » Mon Nov 16, 2015 1:00 pm

Did we go Zone pretty much entire game just to mess with Stanford's game plan? That was rather unusual (for us) to go with zone pretty much wire to wire.

Think we come out heavy on Man on Thursday night?

We did not go zone wire to wire. Just when we got in foul trouble. Stanford has good enough outside shooter to bust a zone.

Zone had more to do with the way fouls were being called and will be called in the future. Touch fouls are now REAL fouls. We are going to see a lot more zone.

We might also have to zone because of Standford's size inside. We will see a lot more zone this year because we are somewhat small inside, and the new guidelines for fouls are a real thing.

In his post game comments, Jank said he went zone because Kennedy, Tolbert, and
Ben Moore had all picked up 2 fouls in the first 10 minutes and he elaborated quite a
bit on the new rules on touch fouls as others have said.

I bet we see zone when the frosh come in, regardless of if the bigs are in foul trouble.

We may see some zone but I don't think it won't be due to freshmen coming in the game, Think the freshmen will play man as well.

Semi will help provide depth under the rim. Should need less zone once he is eligible.

My only problem w zone is that we aren't a zone team, so we won't master all the elements. I bet we struggle on the glass in a zone. Rebounding an area is a different beast
