Cold and rainy here in Dallas, good day for an afternoon moody game.

The Brown (Bad News) Bears remind me alot of aline from the movie Caddyshack, when Rodney Dangerfield complains that he cant understand why he's playing o bad, and Chevy Chase tells him "Dont be so [deleted] yourself, you're not..... you're not..... You're not good..... You stink." That sums up Brown Basketball, who are just not all that good. They dont have any size, and no shooters who can compensate the way Yale does. They attempt alot of 3's, 29 attempts per game, but dont make alot, just 29% from outside the arc. There is nothing about them that stands out, they are what they are, a mediocre team that will finish in the bottom half of the Ivy League. They come into this game at 1-4 overall, and riding a 3 game losing streak that includes losses to Niagara, Providence and future SMU opponent New Hampshire. None of the losses were very close. Their lone win came against Holy Cross.
The only thing even remotely interesting about Brown is Dallas native STeven Spieth, a 6'6" junior forward who averages 10 points and 7 rebounds per game, those stats dont really mean anything, though. He's interesting because his older brother is Masters champion Jordan Spieth. If our students got creative they could come up with some good golf related chants like yelling "Four" everytime he took a shot, or chanting "Baby Brother" whenever he touched the ball. I'm betting Jordan will be in the crowd, so maybe all the golf fans will have a shot at an autograph.

Junior guard JR Hobbie doesnt start, but he is Browns best perimeter shooter at 45% from outside. He's guaranteed to throw up 7 or 8 long bombs a game, and if he's hitting them he would be the only Bear who could be bad news for us (pun intended).

The Spieth connection is very interesting. Too bad his brother is down in Australia, we would have had a nice celebrity sighting.

Rats, didn't know Jordan was down under this week. Maybe he can recruit us some more bball players while he's there.

And DeChambeaux too, which I didn't realize. Spieth tied 2nd and Bryson T30. Maybe they can tag team him.
