During the Doherty years, if you had told me...

That in 2015, a top 25 ranked SMU team would beat Michigan by double digits, I would have told you to put down the bong.

Let us continue to reflect on and appreciate how far we've come in so little time.

How about that both the 2014-2015 top 25 ranked SMU teams would complete a home and home sweep of Michigan?

And this game at Moody was a real sound beat-down of a fairly good team and
one of our stars only played a minute. We have come a long way, and we will
only get better. Thank you coach Brown and coach Jankovich and thank all of
the Mustangs and all of the boosters and fans who have made it possible. Moody
was magic last night.

Had a very similar thought during the game last night. Was a band member from 2010-13 and remember going to mens games where you could literally count every person in the gym including all 10 members of the student section. If you had showed me even just a 10 second clip of the TV broadcast from last night back then with a packed Moody, a raucous crowd, W/Romo/Parsons on the sidelines, and a 20 pt lead over Michigan I would have been in absolute disbelief.

Important to take a step back every once in a while and remember how far we've come in such a short time and not take all of this for granted.

Agree. You could also remove the word "Doherty" from the title and replace with "Dement" or "Tubbs" and the point would be equally valid.

Whats really crazy is that we are at the point where we beat Michigan and there was no need to storm the court because we were supposed to beat them.

We had some kids from the student section move down to floor baseline to high five the players, and I immediately wondered if they would rush the court. They definitely had the "been here before" attitude and was very glad they didn't rush the court.

Well my take is completely different from everyone above and I would hardly be considered a person who looks at life with rose-colored classes, quite the opposite actually.

1) We are an elite school, but not so elite that academics becomes a hindrance to athletics, that places us in a group of maybe 40 schools in America.

2) We are located in a thriving metropolitan area, that places us in a group of maybe 15 schools.

3) We are located in a hotbed of local HS athletic talent, that places us in a group of maybe 10 schools.

4) We have affluent alumni who can make things happen, that places us in a group of maybe 50 schools.

How many schools fulfill all the above requirements?, maybe 10.

There is absolutely no reason we shouldn't be a consistent Top 25 team in both FB and especially BB. Shame on our leadership for allowing even diehard fans on this board to think otherwise.

well socal you are absolutely correct, but just because it was an embarrassing failure of ours not to have fixed this earlier given some of our attributes, it doesn't mean we shouldn't be reall excited about where we have gone in such a short amount of time.

Hoping the football experience will be as much of a head snap. It will be interesting to see if Dallas comes rolling into our stadium when we start beating meaningful opponents. I think they will - it will just take a bit more to convince them.

good thoughts SoCal. We are pretty well teed up for some success. Moody is fantastic. The Boulevard is still great (although sounds like they have been cracking down on the students too much which will have a negative impact). Wish Ford was designed better, but is what it is. Just wish a P5 (other than the Big 12) would see the value of entry into the Texas market and come get us. AAC is fine if doesn't get poached and can get a decent TV deal with money next round.
