Happy to have the team we have, but after losing all of the local kids to A&M and now getting guys from Australia, have we done something to [deleted] off the AAU coaches/players locally. There is SO much talent here.

Odd for me to say this since we are on probation, but is it that we don't cheat to get the AAU kids?

I always thought we would be the DePaul (Late 80's - Early 90's) of Dallas ....

It has been stated many times that keeping the Dallas kids in Dallas is much more important for football than basketball.

Hoopmax and Ohio brown fan can probsbly speak more to this, but the word for a while was the community felt burned by how Ulric was treated (not to mention we was our texas recruiting guy). I have also headed things have improved a bit but honestly I don't care where anyone comes for so long as the can play and stay eligible.

This school has always had a lot of transplants. There has never really been a full Texas feel to it which allows us to go out of state (and even out of country) to go recruit really good talent.

It seems like hoops recruiting is much more a national (and international) game than football recruiting. I don't think Duke or UNC Chapel Hill are loaded with guys from the Raleigh-Durham area, or that UK is cleaning up in Louisville. And yet those are the top programs year in and year out.

yeah - I'm not really that concerned about the local scene -in fact you could say it would benefit us to stay out of the local scene for obvious reasons.... but I do worry about having enough recruiting fire power on staff to compete nationally.

Something fishy going on in A&M. There is just no doubt about that.

I keep hearing we're not getting any Texas AAU but didn't DaShawn McDowell play for a Texas AAU (Dallas Mustangs?) and actually went to Prime Prep for a bit

Maybe SMU stays away from the local AAU crowd due toThe way the local crowd does their business. We don't want trouble

How does the local AAU crowd do business? I don't think that is it. Things are getting better and we are going after come local DFW kids now, check the visitor list. Some of the AAU guys were at the game and were impressed.

We're alright, some of you are so staunchly Texan, that you aren't properly evaluating the model. SMU is a mid sized private that pulls off each coast,, Texas and surrounding states, even some international flair. Private powerhouses go wherever the talent is. Our frosh class, which is insane, is htown, Oklahoma and SoCal.

Any info on the SoCal part of the frosh class?
