Guards

Shake, Keith, Sterling, Emelogu, Wilson, McDowell, Foster, Sed (maybe he transfers), and Wilfong

Bigs

Semi, Benny, Elijah (maybe), and 2 of these 3 (maybe) - Bruno, Froling, Kapita

...could be fun

If we get two of Thomas, Froling, Bruno, or Kapita then we would be absolutely stacked.

Even if Thomas ends up at SMU, he will have to sit out a year.

Yes... And we could use two bigs right away. Froling would be an interesting addition as he has both size and an outside game. But seeing Tolbert and Markus bang away inside is enough to want two new bulls inside.

He could play after 1st semester is over if that's what LB wants.

And he would still have to sit out a year. That is the rule.

as long as he transfers by start of second semester he can start play at end of first semester in December 2016

True. But as some of us just learned: if he does that he loses a full year of eligibility by playing half a year.

I guess it just depends on the player and the situation.

Does anyone here doubt Semi would be playing this week if we were tourney eligible?

if we could play in tourney, semi would be playing for sure. we are putting all of our apples in the future at this point it seems. I like that it is consistent at least.

We don't have enough scholarships for that

Over the next 3 years we need to have 32 scholarships as opposed to the normally allowed 39. (We are getting credit for having 2 less from last year i believe). And all of this assumes the scholarship sanction does not get reduced with our appeal.

The proposed roster would have 12 scholarship athletes if you got 2 of the 4 potential bigs (and only 11 if Emelogue or Sed aren't here for one reason or another). The Year after that they would only have 9 scholarships on the roster before a recruiting class. Assume we go with a class of 1 or 2 (if Sed or Emelgou is off the books) so through the next 2 years we have used 22 of our 32 scholarships. Then you fill with recruiting to 10 and your set.

You can be fine with 10 scholarship athletes if those 10 are good and the ratio of guards/wings to bigs is at least 7to 3 (though 6 to 4 would be ideal). The year after that you sign a large class to make it back up to 13 and you are in a bit of a young rebuild era but how good you are is based on how good the recruits are.

We have a ton of guards. My guess is that not all of them will return next year.

I think Sed is gone. Wouldnt be surprised to see Keith head over to Europe or the D-League after this season either -- might be a necessity for APR reasons. My prediction:

Guards: Shake, Sterling, Jarrey, McDowell, Wilson, Emelogu

Bigs: Semi, Ben, Froling, Kapita

Froling is an elite talent as a stretch 4, and Kapita is perfect for our system- he's another Tolbert/MK- raw offensively but a stud defensively. I hope we get both but I'd LOVE Kapita

ECM's optimistic 2016 opening night starting 5:

Shake
Sterling
Semi
B. Moore
Kapita

No the optimistic lineup includes Keith until he proves he can't handle it. He's a big part of the bridge the program needs to survive the probation
