Is the AAC only a 2 bid conference?

If we only get 2 teams in the tournament this year without SMU it would not look good imo. The conference would then look like a mid major rather than a conference that is close to being a P5 type conference imo. Maybe Tulsa or Temple could make a run.

Well right now there might only be 2 teams in the NCAA tournament (though most would consider it a 3 bid league as we will almost certainly have a resume that qualified).

I'm a bit surprised Tulsa has struggled as much as they did given what they had returning. Temple should do better in conference but I don't think they will do well enough to earn a bid. Memphis on paper should be a tournament level team but Pastner is simply bad at coaching the game of basketball (obviously he is a good recruiter).

In theory if each program were preforming at historic levels (and for SMU our recent history) this should be a 4-5 bid league a year. Uconn, Cincy, Memphis and SMU with Temple/Tulsa fighting as bubbles.

The irony here is that Temple, Memphis and Tulsa need a resume building win over somebody really good to have a shot.

As Ray Wylie Hubbard says: "The problem with irony is that nobody gets it."

The Sporting News thinks it's only a one bid league at the moment..."if things break just wrong..."

Since Temple beat Cincinnati today we might be looking at a one bid conference if Cincinnati loses a few more.

We will definitely get one but I hope conference play gets us to two or three and the media constantly mentions it would be one more with the Ponies.

We cant get less than one :)

To be honest, our conference mates so far doing little to solidify resumes in OOC

Yeah, no kidding. I've been very disappointed in the AAC so far. Right now, this is a 1 or 2 bid league. And I don't see any real prospect of that changing unless someone other than Cincy or SMU goes on a tear in conference play.
