The best player on SMU that nobody's talking about? Junior forward Ben Moore. The 6-8 Moore is averaging 12.1 points and 8.4 rebounds while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor. Last year as a sophomore Moore averaged 7.1 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting just 43.9 percent. This kid is a gamer.

There was much talk after last year about how Ben needed to step up. He has anwered....and Moore.

Ben Moore finally looks like he belongs out there. He has made lot of progress.
His passing is better - his rebounding is better - his defense is better - his scoring is
better - and his basketball IQ has improved. His is already very good. If he keeps
improving he will be an animal next year. I agree with everything the first two posters
had to say.

I miss some of the "old" guys, but Ben makes it a lot easier. Even seems like he has some attitude this year. A little edge never hurt. He knows he a good player now. His confidence shows up in his game.

Ben is putting up significant numbers this year, but I put Sterling in the same category as guys who have been somewhat overlooked but have been a huge part of this team's success. I expect those guys are going to have pretty special senior seasons...although an undefeated junior season might be difficult to top!

Ben is showing that when Nic leaves he is going to help fill the leadership void.

Ben is also a really good passer. Think he is second on the team in assists per game.

Ben, MK and Jordan are all excellent passers. That's what makes our offense so tough to defend.

1st on team in blocks
2nd in rebounding
3rd in scoring
2nd in assists
certainly No. 1 in setting picks-a very overlooked essential part of SMU's offense-it would be interesting to see a stat on baskets off set picks
improved to 74% from FT line

when Ben got his 3rd foul the other nite, Larry said something like he doesn't feel good anytime Ben is on the bench. SMU runs its offense through and around Ben Moore-he is the Point Forward and makes everybody on the team better. When opposing coaches marvel at SMU's unique style of play, plays off set picks and interior ball movement and rotation they are talking about Ben Moore to a large extent
