Not sure if this is old news (perhaps we were always slated for ESPN for this one), but the following was recently tweeted by Cin Mens BBall...
ESPN has announced that Thursday's #Bearcats game at No. 17 SMU will be televised by ESPN. Tip is 7 pm ET.
Wonder who they will be sending to call the game.

Better call Rent-A-Mob for Thursday. The one from the USF game was more appropriate for Perkins Chapel.

Okay, I'll admit I still don't know how MOB tickets work. For USF there might have been 30 students in the section that holds 200. How does that happen? You mean there aren't 200 students from DFW that will go to games if given a ticket?? I really don't understand this process.

I think you have to pay a yearly fee to be eligible for the MOB section, no? That being said, if we have 6,000 undergrads, half are from out of state, and 2/3 of the Texas students are from DFW, you are at 1,000. I agree with you that even filtering non-basketball fans out you ought to be able to find 200 local fans to fill that section.

Rush begins on Saturday, Jan 9th. Hopefully some students will return early. However, Residence Halls do not open until Saturday - and now, half of our students are required to live on campus - thus, I don't see too many coming back for this Thurs. Hopefully enough live in Dallas.

Shouldn't there be someone in the ticket office responsible for getting student tickets in the hands of kids able to go during the break? It shouldn't be that hard. Aren't people at SMU smart enough to realize Thursday night's game will be on the big network and will probably have the biggest audience of any SMU game this season? A 50 student MOB section supporting a top 15 team will reflect very poorly on our school.

Especially with four cheerleaders.

I also hope we have more cheer squad and at least some students in the band. Although I really appreciate that we have a great alumni band it would look better for TV to have students.

I am performing with the band again Thursday, but will try to cut off the gray from the beard, or 'Just for Men' it.

Maybe they have a list or they can send out a blast email to young alums giving them MOB tickets for the game Thursday.
Student section needs to be filled

They actually did a good job of filling the baseline student sections with people. I'm guessing they reserved the Mob center seats for students during break - just no that many showed up.

Yes, they did.
