There are no Mardi Gras parades schedule for that day so traffic parking should be fine.

Glad this is happening but someone tell them that "Rue Freret Street" is superfluous.

fresno here is my advice - spend very little time Iif any) on Bourbon. Search out the cool little restaurants, bars and galleries. Its a great town but you gotta get out of the tourist area, which is basically scum. Do some homework and it will pay off.

GW Fins and Oceana Grill for seafood in the Quarter. Irene's and Italian Barrel for Italian in the Quarter
Uptown, Commander's Palace and Clancy's
Central business District, Peshe Seafood Grill, Emeril's
Mid-City, Katie's, Ralph's on the Park, Mandina's or Venezia's in Mid City for Italian
Acme Oyster House (several locations around the area)
Camellia Grill, at Carrolton and St. Charles. Right off the streetcar route. Great greasy spoon like food
In Metairie, Deanie's Seafood (Bucktown), Rodasta's (lunch, great Shrimp Po-boy), The Galley Seafood
The usual well knows are excellent as well.

I went out there last year. A small number of SMU fans can get VERY loud in that arena - and make it like a home game.
The Arena is closer to a High School Gym than to Moody.

I've been to NOLA a bunch. If you haven't been, definitely do Bourbon Street one night. But there's a lot to explore outside the French Quarter so don't feel obligated to spend all your time there.

For a great court yard experience with dinner, Feelings Cafe. Its off the beaten path, not far form the Quarter. It is in a building built in the 1790s and has a fantastic courtyard atmosphere. Food is small portions, well priced and good (not great).

It's much closer to a Class 1A gym in Iowa. The visitors locker room is beyond a joke. If it is still in the shape it was Doh's 1st year then it'll take a while to shower as maybe one will work.

Last year they told us it had just been renovated. It looked exactly as it does in that pic
