Basketball Recruits

I have read a little about Devon Pearson
a 6'7" swing forward from Miami Florida
who appears to be an aggressive leaper and
likes to attack the basket, but I haven't
seen him play.

Has anyone seen him play or have more
information on him?

I did see Demetric Bennett in the Global
games and was impressed with his athletic
ability and quickness. He didn't get much
playing time, so didn't score much; however when he was in, he did rebound several and
did a nice job of overplaying the passing lanes to intercept 3 or 4 passes. He is
supposed to be a shooter so let's hope he
can heat up for the Ponies.

According to a DMN story recently, Chris
Reay has been lifting weights, running alot,
and playing pickup games with SMU players and other college recruits in the area trying
to improve his game. I saw him many times
in 2002 and 2003 playing for Plano West and
he is mobile and coordinated and at 6'9"
240lbs - he can be a force. He needs to
get meaner and learn to box out more because
we will need rebounds. His hands are suspect - I think he has potential but we
don't seem to develop big players after they
get here. Any comments from PONYFANS??

I haven't seen Devon play either but he is suppose to be a very good rebounder and likes to mix it up in the middle. With Kelley gone, we need someone like that. I think he may have the best chance of the freshmen to play significant minutes early on.
I like the lineup of Hop running the show, Isham at the 2, (I am expecting big things from the I-man this season) Pat Simpson at the 3, Castro at the 4, and The Rack in the middle. With Lowe, Devon, and Voc (health???) coming off the bench. The three games we are playing in mid October in Canada should give Dement a better idea of who will be ready. Can't wait!
BTW, with Hop and Isham at the 1 & 2, we will have one of the most athletic backcourts in the country.

The most athletic backcourt in the county? Maybe the most athletic PG in the WAC, but backcourt? Better wake up...

Let's let BHop prove something first. So far it is all hype. He's had flashes of brilliance but so has Isham. I would like to see their play do some talking.

He said ONE of the most athletic, not THE most athletic. And he's right. Hahaha must be a troll anyway with that handle and the comments she makes.

As for the center position, I don't see the Rack as quite ready to step in. I thinking Castro plays the 5, Simpson the 4 and Lowe the 3. Ideally we would go bigger with Rack, but we'll see if hes ready.

Did you see Rack play in the Lithuania/Canada game?? If he could play
that way in the Conference, he could definitely help us. That was probably his
best game in Moody - so unless he makes progress like that consistently, you may be
right about his readiness. Let's all pray
that he is ready because that could make
a gigantic difference in this team.

I can't believe you would say
such a comment to RedHorse. Are you fey?
Writing that way has to be hard.
Give the poor guy a little break, Pard.
