Brandon Wheeland, an Aggie who covers A&M for the DMN, is one of only two voters to not have us #1. He ranked us #3 behind Aggie and Baylor. No bias I'm sure. @BrandonWheeland

First, I would expect him to have some bias whether proper or not. Tough not to when you are an alum who covers the school. Second, A&M is playing well because their best player is one we let them have from our team so they should be a little good. We are still ranked ahead of them.

Jalen Jones is A$M's leading scorer (ahead of gunner House so that's saying something). Jones has been good for that program and I'm sure he's happy being "the man". Very telling is that he's had only 8 assists in 11 games. He's a very good player, but maybe just wasn't a good cultural fit for a Larry Brown/Tim Jankovich coached team.

I got a couple of responses from him. Says he thinks A&M beats us and that he is not sure how a game with Baylor would go. Then said we have a good team. My guess is he has watched less than 1 SMU game this year as you can't watch all 3 of those teams play and think that. Obvious A&M and Big 12 bias.

Going into a steakhouse in Plano last night a man saw my SMU Basketball hat and asked
how we were doing (must be living under a rock.) I said we were 15 and 0 on the year
and ranked 14th in the nation.
Typical Aggie said - "That's because you haven't played us yet." I told him we would probably
beat the Aggies by at least 10 but that they weren't on our schedule. Guy says - "Maybe
we'll meet in the tournament." I said - I don't think the Aggies can make the tournament.
Just being hostile I guess. I didn't bother to explain our situation.
