I also enjoyed the mental image of Martez Walker reading Cat in the Hat and other riveting tales in his Children's literature course.

The final comment in the report where the ut president wonders why 60 percent of certain categories of athletes are majoring in the school of education, leaves me amazed. For one I am not at all shocked that so many of these young minds want to spend the balance of the working life helping educate others...for that alone we can be proud of ut,austin.

to be fair, in some cases guys might value an education degree that would allow them to become teachers/coaches and to remain involved in the game they love

Yeah, Mrs. 2nL went to the education and psychology schools down there and had a bunch of classes with TJ Ford. She's told me it was always weird that he was in education but couldn't read above an 8th grade level.

I took a children's lit course at SMU and surprisingly it was one of my more difficult English courses

I am sure it's a harder course than it sounds, but I'll stick with my mental image.

I liked this part of the story...

"And it claimed that one athlete received inappropriate help with online courses before enrolling in the university."

Sounds familiar...

Could the NCAA not confiscate all of the computers and figure it out? Or was Texas "smart" enough to not do the on-line coursework on a University of Texas university-owned computer?

Or is it just an example of how the NCAA is going to avoid having to punish big name programs under the "new rules" by just never finding any evidence of academic misconduct even when it's obvious?

Nothing to see here. Dale Hansen hasn't pronounced wrongdoing.

The undergrads at UT exert more effort creating elaborate schemes to cheat on tests than any other activity on campus. Academics are not an issue with any UT athlete until they under-perform in their sport or their eligibility has expired. How any of them could fail given their bogus majors in exercise science etc is unimaginable really, so the report is probably accurate
