La Salle

I'm watching the Temple/La Salle game on CBSSN. There are 12 minutes remaining in the 2nd half and La Salle has yet to sub anyone. The announcers said as long as no one gets in foul trouble they'll go with the same five. I looked at the box score of their last few games and they usually only play six. I'm not sure the story behind this but it looks like we are not alone.

I think the OU-ISU announcers noted that La Salle's starters are #1 in the country for average number of minutes per game.

And they aren't playing very well tonight.

I wonder if they are on probation and lost scholarships? That's weird.

They rely on transfers, because they are 5th fiddle in Philly alone, inclusive of Penn State's recent run of Philly recruits. They have transfers from Memphis, South Carolina, and Syracuse sitting this season. They have 9 real scholarship players available this season, and 2 of them are injured right now. One of their freshmen plays inconsistent minutes, and the other barely plays. They have 5 transfers on their roster.

Wasn't it Temple that had 2 or 3 high caliber transfers sitting last year that would have them upper echelon this year? I may be thinking of a different conference mate but I thought I kept hearing that about Temple last year.

Okay, makes sense. Thanks.

Sorry. I thought our Temple friend was referring to his school but I guess it was LaSalle. Never mind.

This world is really up side down. The descendants of (a Baptist) Ham, playing a group of southern Weslyans in basketball, during the latter's Shabbat. Oye vey Iz mir ya'll. Next, they'll have you believe that Bill Cosby will be spreading pony blood around the doorways of the Liacoures Center on their campus....... so Larry Brown passes them over.

We don't have any transfers sitting out this year. The only player we have sitting out this year is a true freshman from Brazil/Argentina, who was not ready to play this year. The La Salle transfer from Syracuse is from my high school, and we passed on him twice.

Bond and Coleman are players who transferred to Temple. Last year we had Jesse Morgan who transferred from UMass.

I'm Jewish, so that's awkward.

Watching Duke/Miami and Dickie V stopped yelling long enough to actually say something meaningful - Duke only plays six guys. I looked at their last four games and it is true. They have a seventh guy who can play a couple of minutes but 95% of the time they roll with six. That's very surprising.

They have Sean Obi from Rice who went from averaging nearly a double double as a freshman to not being able to get on the court at Duke. I understand the allure of Duke, but he could've been an impact player at plenty of great programs.
