Conspiracy theory...

Was it just me, or did every call seem to go against SMU during the final 10 minutes of the game...including some really bogus foul calls against Moore! It seemed like the refs were really going out of their way to take SMU down.

I'm sure with every win the NCAA is cringing about negative publicity concerning their selective abuse of SMU over the Frazier infraction and in the past. The conspiracy theory is that they will do everything possible to prevent SMU from taking it to the house! I mean honestly with the tough competition left on schedule and only have seven players, it is practically impossible for the Mustangs to run the table, but we don't need refs trying to sway the close games we are sure to have! One player fouling out really will be all it takes to drop SMU in a tough game.

All that being said, I did buy my tickets to the finale in Cincinnati. :) Go Mustangs!...30-0, Baby!

It is going to get substantially tougher with every win.

Other teams, their fans, the press, refs, even the concession people.... So bring it! Those amazing seven aren't going down without a fight.

It was interesting to see Sampson work the refs. I got the feeling they all get a ham and a bottle of bourbon from him at Christmas time.

going undefeated is more of a dream than a realistic goal for this team, but going undefeated at home and winning the AAC regular season title should be the goal and expectation for these guys.

Bingo. Great post. I would add "and finish in the top 15 of the final regular season AP poll" as a distant 3rd goal.

That Obama-looking ref had to get the last word (call) with the call on Nic. His emphatic gestures with 2 seconds to play really showed everybody who was in control. What an idiot.

Never assume malice (or a conspiracy) when incompetence is the more likely explanation.

"TV" Ted Valentine is notorious for is overly emphatic, and often erroneous calls. Hence the name.

refs definitely made some terrible calls. good teams overcome them. sampson was having a little chat with one of the refs before the game. i thought it was a little suspicous at the time. now i know it was.

Really just teasing on the "conspiracy theory"...just throwing it out there to get a conversation going. My main thoughts are really how much the NCAA must be hating watching SMU have success despite all the obstacles they have thrown in our way; and how hard it is going to be to go undefeated. I agree that the main goal would be to win the AAC regular season title! They can't take that banner away! Go SMU!
