The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83Aaron Torres, the guy who filed the Petition with the White House (and a Uconn grad) was just on the Bleacher/Sirius ch83 making the argument outlined in his piece to lift SMU's sanctions. He did a really nice job of outlining his argument. While he admitted that SMU deserved some level of sanction, be it loss of scholarships, suspension of coach, loss of tournament revenue, he disagreed with the tournament ban and explained why.
He even threw out the argument about UNC and their fraudulent classes/length of time with no sanction at all. Last edited by Smulaw90 on Fri Jan 22, 2016 12:35 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Aaron Torres Fughting for us on Surius 83 BleacherThe press this week has been amazing. It's gotta help us longer term.
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83Lose one game and it all goes away.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83Dutch, there is an element of truth in what you say, but its patently unfair. These kids aren't going undefeated and when they lose, it doesn't lessen anything they've accomplished. This season has been a crazy crazy ride, not easily forgotten. That said, its all going away for everyone, tourney teams included, in 90 days, at most. the only thing that isnt fleeting is program. Soon, it'll be a new year and we'll still be standing tall.
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83It's not fair but what Dutch says is true. The second we lose the media will forget about us. We need to temper expectations since there is more to this season than going undefeated (conference championship anyone??) What sucks is that with all the talk about going undefeated we will likely take a nosedive in the polls when we do eventually lose (90-95% chance).
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83WTF negative nancy's.
We're all going to die some day too. Does that mean everything was a waste? That's pretty much the attitude you're adopting. The exposure these kids have brought the program is unreal. And yes, everything eventually goes away. But that's so shortsighted. We're very close to accomplishing something much bigger - a sustainable program, which is remarkable considering everything that has happened. I'm enjoying every second of this and I hope everyone here is too. ![]()

Speak for yourself, I'm living forever Focker! Pony up!
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83Top notch would be winning them all, but what if we do lose one or more, but end up in the AP top 25 at selection time? Has that ever happened?
Is the RPI updated throughout the tournaments? What if our opponents do well and we are still in the top 25 in the final poll? Is that an option? If we do win them all, we should be at #2 in the final poll since we didn't have the opportunity to beat the winner of the tournament, but no one else could beat us.
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83There is something about the number 20 that I think would really get this thing even more attention - if we can make it that far I think we have achieved more attention than if we made it a couple of rounds into the tourney -
One of the things I think this has done as caused Larry to extend his time with us. He doesn't want to go out on the heels of probation. He wants the redemption story. Land two -three post guys and add the new guards plus Semi and this crew and we could see another really nice run. Someone has to develop Nic like grit though - someone beside Sterling who has it in heaps already.
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83
Absolutely agree with you on all points you made ^.
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83and you know something else? There is actually one positive about going undefeated and then no tourney for this team.
It would REALLY REALLY be challenging to march through the conference tourney with 7 scholarship players and no days to rest between games. Both conference tourney and NCAA's could have been a real disappointment going in extremely shorthanded. So let's take it as far as we can Mustangs Hoops, and if a loss happens, let's stick to winning the conference as a great goal in itself. Hell, 27-3 or 28-2 and a Top Ten finish would be a great accomplishment. Beat the hell out of anybody!
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83
NC State was #2 in the final 1973 AP poll.

X2
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83
If we were eligible, Semi would be playing for us this season. Keith may not have transferred.
Re: The Guy Behind The Petition Was On Sirius 83
I am in no way saying it's good that we are ineligible and would never have succeeded in post season, I am merely pointing out, that AS WE STAND NOW, with our roster situation, our bacon might be saved by the probation... Always trying to be positive. Beat the hell out of anybody!
