Expected timing?

Postby gostangs » Sun Feb 07, 2016 4:40 pm

What is the expected timing for word regarding the following:

1) Any other help for post players next year.
2) feedback from NCAA on scholarship count
3) post season travels for the team if they end the season well - i.e. amateur Europe games?
4) 2018 kids we are chasing

We get a couple of posts with more than a year left and i would think a 2018 player might get pretty excited about how set we are for the next few years.

I think every NCAA Basketball team is eligible to take an International Tour once every 4 years. Our last one was to Africa when Papa Dia was on the team-right?

The Africa trip was in summer 2008, I thought we were supposed to make a tour of Canada in 2012, but that was the summer of the coaching change, so perhaps it never came to fruition.

Every team is able to take this kind of trip, but nobody does it during the spring, it's mainly summer, occassionally Christmas/semester break, because you aren't allowed to miss class for it. I suppose it could be done during Spring Break, but these things have to be scheduled a few months ahead of time, and normally no one will schedule something that would possibly conflict with playing in the normal post-season (doesnt apply to us). Also, the seniors have completed their eligibility, and I dont think they are allowed to participate.

Foriegn tours can last up to 10 days, and you can play up to 10 games.

If the arrangements haven't been made already, including everybodys passports, I'm a little doubtful about getting it done by March, more likely it would be a summer thing. Considering our APR status, perhaps its better to stay home and keep everyone in class. Our last game is March 6th at Cincinnati, and Spring Break starts the next day, that's the only window.

It's always been a summer plan. Some people thought that since it was instead of tourney it would be at same time.
