SMU Falls At UCF, 66-54
Adams, Froling Record Double-Digit Scoring Performances

ORLANDO, Fla. (SMU) – McKenzie Adams scored in double figures for the 21st time this season, leading the Mustangs with 13 points, three assists and two steals, but the effort fell short as the SMU women’s basketball team fell, 66-54, at UCF Saturday in CFE Arena.

Morgan Bolton led SMU (12-14, 7-8 American Athletic Conference) in the third quarter, scoring two of SMU’s three 3-pointers, en route to outscoring UCF, 20-16. In the fourth quarter, SMU shot 40 percent from the field, led by Alicia Froling who went 5-for-7. The Mustang defense held the Knights to 26.3 percent shooting from the field in the final 10 minutes, but the first half deficit, 32-16, was too much to overcome despite outshooting the Knights (6-21, 3-13 The American) by 8.7 percent from the field (39.5-30.8 ) in the second half.

Froling tallied her 18th double-digit scoring game of the season, finishing with 11 points, six boards, and two assists. Bolton scored nine points with three assists and a block, while Dai’ja Thomas tallied nine points with seven rebounds.

UCF outscored the Mustangs 13-9 in the opening 10 minutes, before going on to close the first half with a 32-16 lead.

SMU travels to Storrs, Conn., to take on top-ranked Connecticut Wednesday. The Mustangs are 0-5 against Connecticut, playing all five games as members of the American Athletic Conference. The game will be televised on ESPN3 and SNY.
