So, given that we had two mid-season transfers and everything else. How many schollys do we still have to give up? Of course not taking into account what might happen with the appeal.

there is no set number because the NCAA gave us discretion to take punishment over 3 years. We could be done or if we get some top flight big man or ball-handler then we could add more-especially if Gu's career is done. Again if you are talking about 4 stars that the coaches love then you can afford to front load the scholarship limits because these guys will bridge the gap to end of the probation ie why not mature the roster for future probation years. Right now we are sitting on 6 returnees(including Gu) + 4 recruits=10 scholarships. Normal roster has 13.

another question is whether we get credit for another ship after Keith and Sedrick bailed? Don't know whether the NCAA will view those as 1/2 ship each for this year. That would certainly help.

We will not get credit for that.

The question is why haven't we heard about our appeal of the scholly punishment? Syracus heard pretty quick.

Larry had an interesting quote last week that wasn't brought up on this board that SMU is not Syracuse in regards to the NCAA

NCAA may have saved our program-but screwed the Seniors-by delaying sanctions until after school started

This. In three years they will restore half of the scholarships retroactively, to no practical effect whatsoever. And UNC will still be under review and unpunished. SMU isn't Syracuse to the NCAA, and in the same way, Syracuse isn't UNC.

The only way the NCAA will ever deal an even hand to SMU is if every single upper echelon NCAA official/officer (past and present) receives a neat and tidy manila envelope containing some FBI contents, nightclub forays, Internet hacks, etc., etc.

well, don't we have enough resources to make that happen?
