I guess they couldn't come up with the buyout.
School promises "necessary investments and changes in order that our program may compete at the highest level."

you just can't do that big a buy out, and then pass the hat again to hire the next guy.
At least we can commiserate. We knew three years before June left we had to do something else, but couldn't afford the buy out either.

I wonder if that means that they are going to hire him some very high level assistant coaches to help him.

That's not completely accurate. The people who paid his salary wanted to let things play out. They were not interested in a buyout. There was a lot of talk prior to his last season, but they felt like he should have a chance to turn it around after the 5-7 season. It wasn't about affording...
