Figured I'd start a thread since it's starting to heat up.

The University of Cincinnati received a request for permission from UNLV to talk to Bearcats basketball coach Mick Cronin about the Runnin’ Rebels job, sources told The Enquirer on Monday.
UC has granted permission for Cronin to speak to UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas), the sources said.
UC athletic director Mike Bohn declined comment Monday. On Sunday, Bohn told The Enquirer via text:
"I will not be providing any quote on speculation."
UC President Santa Ono tweeted on Monday:
"Great conversation with Mick Cronin today. Made it clear he is a key member of our team here at UC."
Cronin has not responded to multiple attempts by The Enquirer to reach him for the past two days.

Jeff Goodman @GoodmanESPN:
Mick Cronin doesn’t need to go see UNLV in order to take the job. He recruits there every summer, has played in multiple tourneys there.
UNLV has better facilities than Cincinnati -- but question is whether UNLV will step up and pay Cronin in the 2 million range.
This certainly could be a play to see it Cincy will do some things for Cronin and the program. But I am told he is seriously considering.

I would hate to see Cronin leave. I think he is one of the better coaches in the AAC. And UNLV doesn't stick me as a step up. More a lateral move.

Nobody up here really know what is going on. Some think he would never leave for UNLV, so are hoping he does so that they can get Huggins back.

At his age, why would Huggins return?

I really like Cronin - but selfishly, I want to be sure that Cin stays in the AAC and Cronin leaving for a lower tier conference job really does not bolster the "value" of Cin...unless Huggins shows back up - in which case, the ties to the B12 become stronger.

How old is Huggins? Older than Larry? Didn't think so.

I think UNLV is a step up from Cincy, nbased on a lot of factors. First, it's a hoops first community, no state tax, great facilities, less competition regionally on trail, great weather, big town amenities in a smaller city! easier sell. Coaches love the concoct of UNLV as a power.

Huggins is kind of a cincy joke. There are lots of people around here who think he is sitting on the right hand of God and that UC will never be the same without him. Never forgave UC for letting him go.

UNLV assistant Todd Simon will very likely become the next head coach at Southern Utah, per a source. Looking to finalize deal today

Cinci paper reports that UNLV is considering a contract for Cronin. It would involve a huge jump in what unlv has been paying if they do it.
