Whoa. That is from left field. He's never coached in college before, has he? Regardless, the AAC is full of name coaches.

Mike Dunleavy, Sr. will be introduced as the new #Tulane head basketball coach on Tuesday.

That is an impressive get for Tulane. 613-716 in 17 seasons in the NBA. He was Q's coach with the Clip.

Supposedly he wanted the TCU job. Certainly LB's success is making ADs and former NBA coaches take notice. I bet he can get a great staff. When was the last time somebody copied SMUs blueprint??

Avery Johnson never coached a college game before and seems to have Alabama headed in the right direction. Maybe Dunleavy will do better in college than in the pros. Just have to wait and see.

Do we lose Kevin (his nephew) from our bench?

Would be a great opportunity for Kevin if he wants to take the coaching path.

I think this is a great hire for Tulane. Will bring instant credibility and exposure to a bottom dweller, and does anyone really think they could have done better?

James Jones would have been a lot better

This is definitely the "splash" hire that Tulane needed to make and is consistent with the AD's desire to land as big a name as possible. As some have mentioned, MD might not be the greatest XO's coach ( I can't speak to that), but that, too, is consistent with the AD's opinion that the program didn't necessarily need the best coaching mind out there. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing what he can do in this league of good coaches.
