Nic Moore Is A Three-Time First-Team Selection, Ben Moore Named To Second Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (NABC/SMU) – Nic Moore and Ben Moore were named All-District 25 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Friday. Nic Moore, the two-time American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, is on the first team for the third straight season while Ben Moore was named to the second team in his first honor. The duo helped lead No. 24 SMU to a 25-5 overall record and 13-5 mark in The American.

In 2015-16, Nic Moore led The American in scoring (16.1 points), assists (5.2) and three-pointers per game (2.6). He also ranked near the top of the AAC in steals (1.3, 5th AAC), 3-point percentage (41.3, 5th AAC), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3, 3rd AAC) and free throw percentage (80.0 percent, T-4th AAC).

Nic Moore is a Naismith Trophy Candidate and was on the Bob Cousy Award final 10, the Wooden Award Late Season 20, the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List and the Senior CLASS Award Candidate list. He was also named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association District VII All-District Team and unanimously All-AAC First Team. In addition to being the AAC Player of the Year in 2014-15, he was named Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention.

For his career, Nic Moore finished second at SMU in assists (508), fourth in assists per game (5.1), fourth in free throw percentage (83.8 ), fourth in 3-pointers made (225), sixth in 3-point percentage (42.1), sixth in games started (100), tied for ninth in steals (136), tied for 10th in steals per game (1.4) and 11th in points (1,462).

This season, Ben Moore led SMU in blocked shots (1.4, 7th AAC) and was second for the Mustangs in scoring (11.9, 22nd AAC) and rebounds (7.4, 10th AAC). He also was among the league leaders in field goal percentage (54.9, 5th AAC) and offensive rebounds (2.9, 6th AAC).

In the past three seasons, they helped SMU to a 79-22 record including 50-4 mark at home and 40-14 in American Athletic Conference action. The Mustangs won the 2014-15 AAC regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2013-14, SMU finished tied for third in the league and eventually reached the NIT title game. In 2015-16, Nic Moore was the MVP of the Las Vegas Classic as SMU claimed the title. Ben Moore was named to the LVC All-Tournament team.

Earlier this month, Markus Kennedy was named the AAC Sixth Man of the Year and Shake Milton was selected to The American All-Rookie Team.

Aren't those the American all-conference teams? Looking at the website it looks like the districts are indeed divided by conference as opposed to district, making these recognitions redundant and unneccessary.
