How many beers and fireball shots in were you when this was posted? As usual, your posts are meaningless and have no real substance. Let's recap the posts: saying SMU is a basketball school is like your [deleted]. SMU is in the state of Texas. We are mother truckers. And now that LB is gone you throw your school's basketball program under the bus to promote your own dumb agenda. Why don't you tell that to coach Jank next time you're around him?

The basketball program has a chance to become, on a consistent basis, a nationally ranked program - the football program does not. That is reality. So enjoy the merits of our football team drubbing Liberty, Abilene Christian and the likes - if this is what you mean by being a football school.

don't bet on us "drubbing" Liberty. Like JMU last year, they are going to be one of the better teams in their conference and should be competitive.

I agree! My point, although not well presented, is that in basketball you don't have to be P5 to have a nationally ranked program - Gonzaga, Witchita State and others. We will have a hard time, if not impossible time getting into P5, and in football that is where national recognition occurs - Boise State and couple others are exceptions. So, in football, since we are a "football school" as thread presumes our glory will be in beating up the Liberty's of the world - hardly makes us the "football school." Don't get me wrong, an upset of Frogs, Bears and others will happen on occasion, but this won't elevate the program to national stature - IMO

Yawn, unless P5 happens, national relevancy is all about hoops. Beyond that, if you look at other successful mid-sized private athletic models, hoops is almost always the greener pasture

We need 8 recruits to be a basketball school, 80 to be a football school.

Appreciate the fireflies.... In case you never see the stars.

ECU is in North Carolina. Basketball mother truckers. Get used to it now that Ruffin is gone.

Seriously, there is value in emphasizing what others around you ignore. Differentiation is important. It's why ECU has succeeded by being a football school in North Carolina, and it's why SMU will succeed by being a basketball school in Texas.

Someone with ability to linky dink needs to post the Yahoo article bashing Larry Brown for the US loss in the Olympics a while back.
