Student ejected for profanity?

Anybody who was at the game have any light to shed on this? While I viewed the hullaballoo surrounding Bob Knight's comments as good press, this is nothing of the sort. I'm all for family values, but I don't think I've ever been to a good-atmosphere college basketball game where at least some students weren't permitted to chant "bulls***." I've always considered it a "students will be students" kind of thing. As long as the students aren't throwing anything, or fighting, I'm in favor of letting them have their fun.

Does any other school in the country really have an ENFORCED no-profanity policy? The implication in the DMN that it might be linked to Knight's public whining really gets my goat.

Anybody who was there see what happened? What did the kid say to get kicked out? And more importantly, did it have any effect on the enthusiasm of the student section? Just curious.

This was in the DMN? What exactly happened? Do you have a link?

Now that I re-read it, it actually says "a man in the student section" was escorted out. Click the DMN game recap story on the front page, then scroll down.

It was my buddy. After some crappy calls he said "that is f-in b.s." right behind the Wake bench and got ejected. He fully admitted it and got yanked by the Assoc. AD. I am sure they are fully sensitive after the little Bobby stuff.

That's ... well, B.S. ... that your friend got tossed for that. I remember seeing Duke games were all those idiots at Cameron Indoor Arena chant that when a ref dares to make a call against one of their sainted Blue Devils (interesting description, don't you think?), and all we hear then is how the Dookies are "passionate fans." If your buddy's comment was a personal attack against a ref or a Wake player/coach, then .... maybe. But it sounds like he didn't say anything that's not said at every game.

And for what it's worth, I sat right behind those rows of fans behind the Wake bench (first row above the railing), and I didn't hear anything even that off-color. I thought the fans were pretty well-behaved. Dammit.

I guarantee you hear that at every game - they are just scared now after "the incident". He was just saying it out loud (pretty loud) and to nobody in particular. He is vocal but fans are fans..that is part of the game.

It's hard to believe the media can dogpile Bobby Knight for his behavior when they seem so shamelessly kiss up to him every time he talks. I know he's a funny quote (when his team wins), but the man plays the media like a bunch of puppets.

What SMU needs is its own 'Mark Cuban' kind of fan! Someone who's willing to 'lay it on the line' for the team as a fan! So help me...if I lived in Dallas, I'd do it myself!
