SMU RPI

Looks like we moved to 51 with the win last night.

Boise remains our one bad loss. They are sitting at about 111. Bad news is they play only four games against a team with an RPI under 100.

Had we won at Boise we might be flirting with a ranking right now.

C'est la vie.

I think if we go to Memphis and win big, I imagine we will be in the top 25, right?

Eh, not sure about that. It might get us some votes though.

We need to win our next 4 games to get into ranking. Currently no 3 loss teams in Top 25.

Beating Memphis might start to garner some votes, but I don't see us getting in there until we are about 13-3 with Ws vs. Memphis and Temple. Losses to Albany or ECU can not happen.

ESPN would love to see us in top 25 when we play a top 25 Cin team on Jan 12th.

Assuming Boise remains in the 100-125 range I don't think the committee will hold that against us. We should've beat them but they are pretty tough at home and I wouldn't classify it as a terrible loss.

Plenty of teams get a loss that is a head scratcher. Yes we lost to Boise but when they are meeting it will have been a long time ago

Memphis looked really good against OU, but their RPI is 112. Beating them (while I think they are a good team) will not launch us ahead. Would be a nice road win and trust me I will take ANY road win at this point.

In other news, Tulane is 320, ECU is 242 and USF is 249 and Tulsa is 184. Losses to them will really hurt, home or away.

We can basically afford to lose to Houston, Cincy and Temple away. Would be nice to pick up one win away, especially Cincy (for all kinds of reasons).

We are SMU at the end of the day, so our resume is going to have to be MUCH better than most to get in.

Last year, KenPom added notations for Tier A and Tier B games. A game in Tier A represents a top 50 opponent adjusting for the location of the game, and Tier B is the same concept for a top 100 opponent.

http://kenpom.com/blog/tiers-of-joy/

Tier A Games:
- Michigan
- USC
- @ Cinci
- vs. Cinci
- @ UH
- @ UCONN

Tier B Games:
- Pitt
- @ Boise
- vs. TCU
- @ Memphis
- vs. UH
- @ UCF
- @ Tulsa
- @ Temple

Tulane might be the worst addition to any conference of all time for all sports

Amazingly, they got farther in the Big 12 expansion process than Memphis

Not defending, but Tulane football looks to be on the rise.

I don't get the hate for Tulane. They've made two good coaching hires for football and b-ball and their football stadium is every bit as nice as Ford.

Recall, gentlemen, that we had to come from behind to win this year's football game at Yurman and we lost at Tulane under Coach Brown. We are about 2-3 years ahead in basketball and maybe a year or so ahead in football. We have no real basis to look down our muzzles at the Greenies.

Finally, would you rather have Baylor/Waco as an AAC mate instead? Or maybe Tech/Lubbock?
