Funny argument. I lean toward wanting to win out including the tournament for competitive reasons But it's not insane to want more teams from our league to make the tourney so we get more money. If it's at the expense of a better match up for us, I will take the better matchup but I can at least understand the line of thinking.

If SMU had to lose then sure it is reasonable to want a team besides Cincy to win the tournament. However, if you are saying you want SMU to lose in the tourney then that means you would actively cheer against SMU in the finals against a team besides Cincy. Insane.

Best result: Someone beats Cincy in Semis, and plays us in finals. Then if we win we are happy, and if we lose, someone else gets tournament bid.

Its insane to say I would root against SMU. My only point is that 3 teams in the tourney is better long term for us than us winning the AAC tourney.

Well I still disagree. What is better for us is not a piddly unit for our conference here or there. Its establishing as much national attention for SMU in a NCAA major sport as possible - so winning our conference tournament is the best outcome - even if we were the only team from our conference.

We need sustained excellence at the highest level (like winning your tournament) to create and cement our position as a national basketball power.

yeah don't really care about most people-two of my favorite basketball memories were winning SWC Tournament and AAC Tourney Championship-especially since we were regular season champions too
