Bad for basketball and I guess football too as they are an easy win

UConn's obsession with the AAC as the source of their problems is misplaced.

Excuses and misdirection deflecting from their biggest problem, Ollie.

Unless they plan on dropping back to FCS in football they aren't going anywhere.

These guys have a top 35 recruiting class every year and they still can't win. More issues than the conference if you ask me.

This is silly. Their "home for football" choices are (1) AAC, (2) CUSA, (3) Sunbelt, (4) MAC, or FCS. No one else is going to take them as football only. Do they really thing the current Big East is so much better than the AAC for basketball that they accept a huge downgrade in football? If they can't win the conference in the AAC on a regular basis, what makes them think they can regularly beat Nova and Georgetown?

They are at a crossroad of is football most important or is basketball? The Big East schools are basketball pure and simple. That's fine go that route, your football program will suffer and/or be non-existent. What conference is going to take you as a football only member? I would hope the AAC would kick them out if they went that route.

If football is most important you need to compromise and make the best choice to keep football viable. You can be viable in basketball in any conference, as long as you win. Seems to me they aren't carrying their own weight in the AAC. If SMU can be nationally relevant, if Cincy can remain natinally relevant, than UCONN should be able to be nationally relevant. I don't think conference affiliation had anything to do with Wagner or Northeastern beating them this year.

We could keep them as FB only and add Wichita State as BB only.

If they left, I could see us adding Wichita State in BBall and then going after a football only school like Air Force

How bout a school currently 22-2 in hoops who is also a sure w in football?

well if you added Air Force to replace UCONN in Football you could actually add 2 powerhouse Basketball (only) programs to get back to 12

If they want to leave I'm guessing we tell them to take their other sports with them. It's a big drain on our travel budget. Best of luck. Sorry about the butt whoopings you took from SMU.
