Do we have "retired" jersey numbers?

I remember #32 and #53 used to hang up in the rafters, but when they took the banners down and replaced them with that new banner under the suites, it has the numbers under a header that says "Honored Jerseys" So do we still reissue "honored" numbers? When our graphics team did mockups of the new recruits in uniforms, I noticed they had Chargois wearing #32, but that could mean nothing.

Still just two:
#32 Krebs
#53 Koncak
And I'm pretty sure those number will never be reissued.

Who was it that started wearing 32 in practice during Larry's first season before they realized it was retired?

I am pretty sure 32 and 53 will never be worn again and the sign saying "honored jerseys" is purely semantics, although it does make you wonder about that Chargois picture.

You can wear anything in practice. My practice jersey in FB was 37. Sleepy Morgan called me The Doaker.

SMU retires jerseys rather than numbers. That's been discussed here many times. But in basketball, where we only have two jerseys retired, we usually don't give the numbers out.

In football, meanwhile, there have been several #17s since Don Meredith's jersey was retired in 2008

"Honored" is an appropriate term/classification. :)

Always found it strange the all the time leader in scoring doesn't have his jersey retired.

There was somebody who was actually on the roster as 32. When they practiced the first time in Moody somebody noticed the banner and the player changed his number.

There's a very very long thread on this somewhere. Bottom line, we (and most colleges) are not the Yankees.

OK so I did my own research. Jordan Dickerson was originally going to be 32 in 2012, but switched to 30 once they realized 32 was retired for Krebs.

He should have taken number 19 to honor Eric Dickerson.
