Its over in the AAC thread too, but yeah. Brutal.

Memphis might be in the cellar with ECU, Tulane and USF next year. They now likely have a 2-3 year rebuild in front of them, unless they get some MAJOR talent influx and still likely a year or two rebuild. Sucks for the AAC.

Those guys aren't winners. No energy. Completely overrated in my opinion. It shows with their record. They were just there for the $ and their dad. Although, they were the best Memphis had...but they needed some sort of change. Nobody should ever lose by 40+ in a game

Long term will likely be good from Memphis losing them, but next year and the following year even will likely be real tough barring them getting some big time recruiter.

The last two games of Memphis' season were ridiculous. They need to clean house, Lawson brothers and all.

Sat, Mar 4
@ #14 SMU L 103-62

Fri, Mar 10
vs UCF L 84-54

Having said that, the downward spiral that Pastner got them rolling on has now hit bottom. I think we can kiss Memphis hoops goodbye for awhile. I wish Tubby the best. I can now see why Pastner skated to the Georgia Tech job. . .even though Memphis didn't have the money to fire him. He saw where this was going.

I also believe this will be addition by subtraction. I've never been a fan the brothers and all the drama around them. Dedric is talented but as Pony ^ mentioned, I've never seen any fight in the dog. In the past few years Memphis has always come across as a team that really didn't care, and I think that started with the Lawsons. IMO, this is a totally different situation than UConn. Mrmphis just needs to go get someone better who gives a damn.

....SMU, Cincy, UCF.... again, Memphis needs to move on from the Lawson era. Haven't won anything since they arrived.

Memphis has too proud a bball history to stay down for long. I think they will return to form within 2-3 years.

Talent without dedication and drive will only take you so far and it seems Pastner, as good a recruiter as he was reputed to be, seemed to overlook that on Austin Nichols and the Lawsons. All great talents but lacking the passion.

Tubby will slap something together for next season but it might be a few years before they are solid again.

It's interesting to see which programs have upward trajectory and which are the dumpster fires right now.

If I had to guess I'd say next years top 4 seeds in the AAC tourney would be WSU, SMU, UCF and Cincy.
Hopefully the next four can be top 100 or close and the bottom group can at least be 125-150.

I don't doubt that Memphis will likely be back, I am not sure it will be under Tubby. Their fans don't like him very much and if they have 2-3 more years with no tourney they could want to move on.

I think Tubby is a real good coach and could get them back though, but as said on here it will likely be 2-3 years. In the grand scheme of things getting rid of the Lawson's was probably a good move, but for the AAC and short term it hurts.
