Went to the game.....got pissed off!

Postby geephunk » Mon Jan 12, 2004 12:08 pm

Well guys, here is the update. I went to the game from San Francisco. I was pumped and ready for a great game. I had never been to the campus before and I was surprised at how many people made the game, considering school was not in session, but then again, the university is the only show in town.

Well let me just say, we got our a**es kicked. Outhustled, outperformed, out "you name it, it happened!"

Kirk Snyder scored a career-high 33 points and Nick Fazekas added 20 of his career-best 22 in the second half. What sucks is Fazekas runs like a woman and he killed us. Wait till they visit Dallas, you will see. You will be shocked.

As for Snyder, he killed us. He shot when he wanted and we couldn't stop him. It started with the first shot of the game when he was wide open and drained a three, then his next shot, a long 2, he drained and was wide open. But...

BHop was great but he was the only one. Castro didn't jump higher than 2 inches the whole night. He didn't do anything. No one else didn't anything noteworthy.

But the DAGGER of the night came with the smallest guy on the court. 6'0", 150 pound guard Todd Okeson. This little guy had 4 points, which came off 2 dunks that got the crowd going nuts. He had 2 or 3 half court ally oops and also a Globe Trodder-esqe behind the back pass to one of his teammates for a thunderous jam. He also had numerous "running out of bounds to throw the ball off one of our guys legs" plays that also got the crowd going. He also kicked a**. It was embarassing.

LOL...Fazekas' running style is certainly unique. He's going to be a good one though.

Okeson is as scrappy as they come. I think most Nevada fans were shocked by his 2 monster dunks.

Thanks for the update/game report. They should finish 1st in the WAC if they stay consistent.

We will continue our unconsistent ways and be in 4th or 5th at this rate.

hey geephunk
What are your thoughts of Snyder? do you think he has a shot in the league? when his head is in the game he's going to be tough for any WAC team to stop.

Do I think he has NBA potential. You bet. Just looking at him, he is more physically developed than the other players on court with him. He look bigger and stronger, and plays at a higher level.

He also has a lot of confidence in his shot, pulling up for 3's and long 2's with someone in his face. I don't think he has the best looking shot in the country, as far as mechanics and what not, but it works for him and that might be something that he will have to work on as far as gaining consistency against NBA level competition.

His dribbling and passing are also good but not the best as far as fundamentals and mechanics.

But as for talent, potential, intangibles (blocking, on the fly passing, playing on emotion, defense) he is definately a good prospect and I could totally see an NBA player in him.

And probably most important, he is unselfish. For example, he had a breakaway in the 2nd half which would have given him a sure monster dunk but he gave it up to the 6'0" point guard (Okeson) for an ally oop slam dunk, which by the way he was called for a technical for hanging on the rim. Homeboy doesn't even weigh 120 pounds and he is hanging on the rim making us look stupid. Anyway, Snyder is good.

I think Snyder had 29 in Nevada's win over KU. KU has a bunch of athletres and they couldn't stop him. Fazekus didn't play much against KU. He was the one who made their shooting look all world with a 9-11 (Ithink) effort. Our guys must have been tired so this game and a 10 point loss isn't the worst by far- See OSU, SD and ASU.
