2017-18 season predictions

Hadn't seen one of these threads yet.

I'll say we go 23-8 (13-5 AAC) regular season, win one in the AAC tourney before being bounced. Go into the tourney at 24-9 as a nine seed, and finally win a tournament game before being eliminated by a #1 seed in the round of 32.

Cincy will win the AAC
Shamet from Wichita ends SMU's three year run of having AAC POY
UConn will be better than people think and a bubble team
UH will be worse than people think

ECM we have similar thoughts.

My predictions:
25 wins including tournaments (finish 3rd in conference)
Get a 10/11 seed and win our first tourney game this century.
Shake and Jarrey are both all conference. McMurray is our 3rd best player.
Cincy wins the conf tourney but WSU regular season; AAC gets 4 bids (including Temple) would have said UCF before losing Dawkins.
UConn and UH don’t make the tourney.

maybe by now more people feel comfortable predicting how this season will play out?

My guess if 10-3 non conference, 11-7 in AAC play, 1-1 in AAC tourney for 22-11 finish. Might get in as a 12-13 seed to NCAA but that depends on how well we compare against Temple, UCF, Houston and UConn (I'm assuming WSU & Cincy are locks). If we don't make it in, we get a high seed in NIT and make it back to MSG.

By year's end, we feel much better about who we have coming back (and in) for 2018-19

23-8 (13-5) regular season. 2-1 in conference tournament. 25-9 gets us into the NCAA tournament with a one and done result. Final record of 25-10

Anyone want to revise or add their predictions to this thread now that everyone is depressed after last night's loss at Tulane? I'm sticking with my 11-7 prediction. If these guys can win at either Cincy or Wichita State I might join the more optimistic among us.

11-7? Are you talking about conference record?

I think we lose 1 game at home and only beat ECU, USF, UConn, and Tulsa on the road

yes; see my earlier post above. I felt like we would go 10-3 in non-conference, 11-7 in conference and win one game in the AAC Tourney to finish 22-11 making us a bubble team depending on how we do against Cincy & WSU who in my mind are our only guaranteed bids this year to the big dance.

Looking like Nostradamus. Does 22-9 get us dancing? (assuming we don't win the AAC tourney)

I think 22-9 (with at least 1-1 in AAC tourney) puts us squarely on the bubble but it depends on the 22. If the above is how it plays out, I think we get left out. I think we need to win at either Houston, UCF, Cincy or Wichita in addition to winning at least 2 of 3 at home with Cincy, Wichita and Houston. The above has us going 2-5 in those 7 games and I think 3-4 at minimum is needed.

I agree RI. I think we need a "surprise win". In the forecast, if we beat WSU (basically stay perfect @ home) then it would be hard to knock us out of the tournament with the OOC record. I agree that UCF/Tulsa/Hou need to be won on the road to make it a lock again. The Tulane loss hurts pretty badly though. I think if we give the committee any reason to doubt us they will pull the snub gun.
