The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordRice vs. South Florida: November 30, 1997
USF and Rice played a first half to forget at the San Juan Shootout in November 1997. The Bulls and Owls scored eight points — combined (!) — in the opening 20 minutes of play, which represents the NCAA (post-1986) record for fewest points in a half between two teams. USF led 6-2 at the break, but both teams got the lids off of their baskets in the second half: The Bulls prevailed 49-46.
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordWasn't there an smu game under Robodoh where we scored like 25 points or something?
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB record
Wow good times... We lost 47-28 to UAB in February 2012. Shake It Off Moody
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordhow many minutes did they go scoreless-it seemed like for 12-14 minutes they were stuck on 6 points. I would think that is an SMU record if that's even kept

Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordThey went 17 without a FG

Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordDoes anyone know what the SMU MBB record is for points allowed in a half? I saw it alluded to on Twitter last night that this might have been the record for fewest points allowed in a half.
The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordWell it is at least in the top 8

Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB record
Brutal night in Dallas. The game seemed to last forever. We had 12 points at the half and for the game shot 17.4% (8-46) and 10.3 from 3 (3-29). To remind everybody how bad things were back then, we were ranked 240th in the country in 3 point shooting but yet we were ranked the second highest 3 point shooting team in the country at over 46% of our shots were from beyond the arc. As the one article mentioned, as a team, we only had 7 turnovers that night! Peruna is my mascot!
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordThe 8 points in the 1st half was an AAC record.
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordsince the AAC only has a Modern Era I'm not surprised-I thinking back in the days of set shots, knee pads and Perkins Natatorium serving as a Basketball Arena Days like when mrydel was a Freshman. Some of those games finished in the Teens

Ponies had 11 points at half in that one. -formerly mustangband27-
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB record
But numbers only went up to 10 in those days. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordGlad the "modern era" has been mentioned. Specifically the shot clock made a difference: no stall including the four corners. Back in the fifties one night we beat the stalling Frogs in FW something like 26 - 22. I'm sure there were more than eight points at the half though.
Contrary to what those who want a lot of scoring say that was not a boring game.
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordI remember that game. Opposing players just sat on the court and rolled the ball back and forth with SMU players (who were so much better!) standing around watching them.
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: The 8 points at half are NOT the MBB recordNot surprised to learn you were there. Lots of yelling where I was sitting.
