Going Forward

I never expected to win this game. I thought it would be more like a 8-12 point loss so thats disappointing.

Nothing has changed 13-5 in conference is needed to get us into the NCAA Tourney. That is really only (8-1 home) and 5-4 road (so need to beat 3 of Tulsa, UConn, UCF, WSU or UH on the road to go w/ ECU & USF). Not saying that is guaranteed with the way we have been playing, but if we can fix a few things we will be fine.

McMurray was atrocious today. 7 Turnovers in pretty limited minutes. woof. He needs to wake up and get his swag/game back. Gu has to be more aggressive pulling the trigger on his 3's. No one is going to leave him open anymore. Having really only 6 that should be playing big minutes hurts. Douglas will be much better next year. Ray and Landrum should be fine down the line. Akoy just isn't what he used to be at this point. Going to be an up and down season, particularly on the road.

and relatively easily fixed....it's the defensive liability McMurray represents and (Last night's) really poor rebounding that concerns me most.

What concerns me the most is the passivity of this team. That is why the rebounding is so bad.\
They don't block out, they don't anticipate well, and they don't really protect the ball even when
they first have a rebound. On offense there is too much standing around and not spacing the
floor. Too much dribbling (especially by McMurray.) We lost almost every loose ball action
last night because we aren't being aggressive - too much watching and not much attacking.

That can be fixed. It will take an attitude adjustment.

Another thing - most people that have played high school ball have been told not to jump
up in the air and then look for someone to pass to. It causes turnovers almost every time.
That should be an easy fix . Also - if the opposing team presses us full court/trap - we must
make them pay by attacking down court while they don't have their defense set yet. We
have been content to try and bring the ball up and then try to get into our half court offense
with the clock running down. Pick it up and attack. I'm sure Jank knows this and there must
be a reason we don't do it. Maybe someone on the board knows why we don't attack the
press better.

Cinn was not the issue. Tulane is a big problem. That denotes we can expect very few wins on the road which will eventually get us off any list for post tournament, and runs the risk of air out of the balloon.

Back up against the wall. We need our students back and we have 15-16 day to go due to rush stuff.

We block out pretty damn good but when Cincy has 6 physical guys 6-8 to 6-11 it doesn't do much good when we are relying on 6-5 and 6-6 guys and don't have the fouls to give against a team like Cincy. Things went South pretty quick when Emelogu and Chargois went out with 2 fouls

Score was 14-11 when Emelogu went out with 2nd Foul
Score was 15-11 when Chargois went out with 2nd Foul

we can't replace those guys down low against a team like Cincy. The game immediately got out of hand. 4 minutes later it was a 16 point deficit. Ballgame

We lost on the road to an arguably legit top 15 team who had the game circled on their calendar. Not concerned.

Good point. We were hanging with them up to that point for sure.

I don't worry about McMurray on defense as long as Ethan stays out of foul trouble it's only when Ethan is out that people really exploit his height down low
