Is It Time For Something New?

We are in tough times now! Is it time for something new? What about jucos? The first thing we would have to do is convince some that could make a difference to come here. Can we do that? Will they want to play in the new Conference USA? What about a coaching change? A new coach would come in to the same players who are here now. Could we expect that much of a change next year? What about Derrick Roberts? Would a freshman really make us that much better next year? I don't have the answer to any of these questions but I do think we have got to find some way to get people in the stands the same as we need to in football. In football people like to see a wide open offense that puts points on the board like a Boise State. In basketball maybe it is time to consider something like the Grinnell model talked about below. Although I am at Moody for every game now I would get there early to see some basketball like the Grinnell team plays. It is just my feeling that we might have a full house for most games.

I for one am not a football fan. I didn't quite understand the offensive schemes. We were completely awful but in addition it was the most boring football I have ever seen. My friend would say "sorry, I can't go to any more games with you this year...you guys really suck and this is terribly boring." There was nothing to get excited about from a fan perspective. The same might be said for basketball. I ran into an alum this week and talked SMU hoops. He goes to fball games but said, "I can't watch that - every year the tallest guy is 6 ft 6 and the team can't shoot"

As for this year, I would let Pearson start every game and see what he can do for next year. Maybe play Bobby A just for a change. Voc is terrible.
