I wish the AAC could get a challenge with the A10 but it doesn’t look like that will happen.

P5 programs are not going to want any part of a deal with the AAC, so I don't see an attractive "challenge" partner for our league. Not sure doing this kind of thing with the A-10 or MWC or any other so called "mid-major" conference does anything to enhance the AAC's reputation. We just need more TCU and Georgetown type matchups and everyone in our conference should be doing the same.

A10 is considered a high mid major and has had a challenge with the ACC before. The MWC has not and is not that good of a confidence. A challenge with the A10 would be good for both conferences imo.

The Pac12 isn't involved in any conference challenges, is it? That might be an interesting opportunity to give them some east coast exposure...

Big East is not a P5 conference yet the Big 12 agreed to a challenge. I believe that all P5 conferences are now tied up with challenges and one challenge game per year enough. Mistake for AAC to have not made every effort ( maybe they did )to secure a challenge with the Big East. Now we are once again on the outside looking in. Second problem is the bottom half of the AAC presents little attractiveness for a challenge.

Big East is considered a major basketball conference even though it is not a P5 conference. They have had challenges with other P5 conferences. Big East split with AAC and will not have a challenge with the AAC. PAC 12 would not agree to a challenge with the AAC imo. I don’t know who the AAC has tried to work some out with but apparently nothing has been worked out nor does it look like they have anything in the works that will work but who knows.

Forgive me if this way out of line but can’t conferences have multiple “challenges”? Couldn’t we in theory have a challenge with Big 12, SEC and PAC12? Isn’t these challenges one game matched up with all teams in one conference versus the other? With WSU in, we would have a decent match up (Cindy, UCF, UH, WSU, Temple, and us?) for our top teams against theirs? Again if I’m mistaken my bad.

Right, a challenge is a one game challenge for every team in the conference.

The MWC used to have a challenge with the MVC, but that ended recently. Their new one is MWC & A-10.

Yes, that's a possibility. They used to have a challenge with the Big 12, but that ended. I think the AAC would gain more from it in terms of attention/credibility, but it is worth pursuing. One guy's idea for a multi-conference challenge.

It's a shame The American regressed so quickly because a couple of years ago we were poised to be a legitimate power basketball conference.
There is no denying we are nowhere close to the Big East anymore and might even be behind the A-10 as well.
To be fair, we have had a lot to do with the rapid descent of the conference.

We still have name programs, Temple(2), Houston (5), UConn (5), SMU (1), Cincy (6), Memphis (3*) and Wichita State (2) in our conference. I think all of those programs have been in a final four in their history. UConn two National Championships. Tulsa has been to the dance 16 times without making Final Four. Which teams in the Big XII have been to the final four? Kansas (15), K State (4), Oklahoma (5),West Virginia (2), OSU (6) ISU (1) UT (3), Baylor (2), not TCU, not TT. ACC has 11 out of 16 teams to FF. BE 10 out of 12 teams to FF. Big Ten 9 of 14, PAC 12 didn't do math but almost all of those schools have gone at one time or another. MWC only UNLV and Wyo. has been to Final Four. SEC has 11 out of 16 who have made the Finals. The A-10 has a bunch of schools that have been to the Final Four (7) or been to the tournament many times (4). That would actually be a good challenge for our Conference.

There’s never been an A10-ACC Challenge. You’re probably thinking of the ACC-Big East Challenge that started the whole “challenge” thing.

The Big 10/ACC challenge was the first and only challenge for a long time.
