Van Gundy says good things about Ben Moore and SMU

Watching the Pacers Knicks game tonight and at the 8:50cst point in the game had a lot of complementary things today about Ben Moore and SMU basketball players in general.

Interesting in that Ben hasn't seen the court for the Pacers yet this season. Van Gundy might have watched a lot of G league games last year or was impressed by him in the summer league?

I think that’s what it was. He saw him during the league games and said that he could do it all, he could rebound, pass, shoot and defend well at the professional level. He then went on to complement SMU’s players in general for having the same skill sets. Later, during the game he complemented the AAC as being a really good league.

The SMU powers that be have clearly shown they really care about the atmosphere at Moody so it's never to early to start working out potential details of a hire.

The Larry Brown hire demonstrated it takes a "name" coach for SMU to compete for top talent. Hope I'm wrong and Jank can lead this team to a strong season and pull in a strong class for next year, but if not...need to hope the money men are willing to pay what it takes to convince a big name to take over the program. SMU hoops has a much better chance of competing at the highest level than the football program does.
