RICK HART: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower RICK HART: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????I am sickened at the environment that Moody has become this year --- I simply can't fathom the drop in attendance and enthusiasm --- WTF????
This from my seat partner (NON-SMU BBALL Fan) that got sucked into the fun 3 years ago --- got this email from him this AM: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Where are the students? Once again a very languid environment. The student risers on the floor. Basically empty. The high roller cushioned seats across from the students. Basically empty. Ok-the adults have stuff to do and can't get across town or down from Plano. But the Students? WTF? Depressing. Not fun. WHERE ARE THE KIDS? This coach seemingly lacks the skills to generate enthusiasm in the student body. Some time during the Larry Brown reign, I read where the students were lined up for something, maybe a bb game, and Larry rode out in a golf cart and handed out donuts to the kids. Does this guy do stuff like that? Last edited by smuhype on Wed Nov 28, 2018 11:56 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????Does anyone know how student tickets are distributed? There was such a demand until ticket office started the priority allotment. Going to other sporting events etc. These games are never thst well attended. But should get 800 students to even the weakest games.
Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????
You don't want Jank speaking to the students.
Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????Place an equal blame on adults/season tickets. I’ve been to every home game and it’s disappointing to see all the empty seats. I’m a season ticket holder and the turnout overall is disappointing.
Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????95% of SMU kids are trust fund superheroes who are simply looking for the next party. They will never care.
Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????I'm part of the problem. Still bitter about the reseat and how it displaced some of the faithful 1,500.
I had a conflict for the start of the game last night. In years past I would have hightailed to the game after my commitment or made sure to give away my great seats so they were used. My new seats aren't good when Moody has had the life sucked out of it. Didn't even try to pawn them off on someone. Bummer.
Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????1. We aren't very good. SMU likes winners.
2. We aren't playing anybody. 3. Hart killed the MOB. 4. Hart killed the environment with the reseat and pissed off a couple thousand season ticket holders. 5. Jank is no Larry. 6. Nic, Sterling, Ben, MK, Semi, Shake ain't walking through that door. No excuses for the students really...but for me, the reseat thoroughly pissed me off. I would have been at pretty much every game this year. Instead I'm finding excuses not to go. Call me a bad fan or whatnot, but SMU isn't getting another dime from me until something is fixed. Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????As an out of town ex-SMU student, this is embarrassing. If Basketball is not a moneymaker (and if it was, with no attendance, it surely is not now), then for God's sake give the student tickets away for free as part of an activity pass - fill up the arena!
I am so tired of the [deleted] and moaning and complaining that the students are too rich, entitled, etc., and the adults are too busy, etc. BS. Look around the Nation. Lesser schools with fewer resources are kicking SMU's Mustang [deleted]. Schools with the same enrollment, less money, and situated in less desirable recruiting areas routinely outperform SMU. SMU needs to stop feeling sorry for itself and stop acting like it is downtrodden, and do something about the sorry state of its program. Start by filling the stands with students let in for free.
Re: RICK HART: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTSHere is the last time we played Lamar. Full to the brim. Something has to change

This right here, SMU faithful, is a major part of the problem. Usually, the team that scores the most points wins the game - John Madden
Re: RICK HART: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTSI genuinely can not believe he typed that and sent it out - for a lot of reasons

Re: RICK HART: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTSHart needs to be fired. Zero attempt at connecting with the SMU community. Needs to take notes from past AD at TCU/current TX AD Chris Del Conte. It's night and day
Re: RICK HART: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTSI’m still very very pissed at losing my seats. SMU can go to hell until there is an administration change!
Re: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTS????
Count me in with the above. I am no longer a season ticket holder. I still watch the games - but on ESPN3. Will attend a few games - but not the entire slate like I used to do. We will see on Thursday night what happens when we are up against a Cowboys game. I will be surprised to see any more than 30% of the red seats filled. "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: RICK HART: Where in the HELL are our FANS --- STUDENTSIt was back to the 1,500 last night. I counted the Mob members - 27 in the prime courtside section.
Even in the best section for the commoners, 204, it was maybe half full. The baseline upper sections were vacant on both ends. Even more telling, only half the concession stands were open on the north side of the arena, which means the school knows people ain't showing up. This thing has fallen off a cliff, and the AD is basically telling people to take their medicine and show up anyways. That's ballsy. ![]()
