Yor Anei To Join The Mustangs
DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Head Coach Tim Jankovich announced that Yor Anei has signed with the Mustangs. Anei spent the past two seasons at Oklahoma State and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Anei (uh-NAY), a 6-10 235-pound forward, averaged 8.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks (4th Big 12) as a sophomore in 2019-20. He was the NIT Season Tip-Off MVP after averaging 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game in New York. As a freshman, he led the Big 12 and finished seventh in the NCAA with 2.7 blocked shots per game. He also tied the OSU freshman record with 85 total blocks. His 2.27 career blocks per game ranked 11th nationally among active players at the end of 2019-20.
"We are very excited to have Yor join us this summer," said Jankovich. "He was an impact player in the Big 12 at Oklahoma State in his first two seasons. He has gained a national reputation as a defender and shot blocker, and has the potential to become an elite all-around player."
Anei was a Missouri Class 5 All-State honoree after leading Lee's Summit West High School to a 22-5 record as a senior. He then scored 15 points with four assists to help Missouri win the Missouri versus Kansas All-Star game.
