Vandy with a couple of familiar names:

Guard Scotty Pippen Jr. — the preseason SEC Player of the Year — is the son of that other Scottie Pippen (and yes, spells his first name differently)

Vanderbilt is coached by Jerry Steakhouse, who seemingly tried to play for every team in the NBA during his 18-year career, with stints in Dallas, Philadelphia, Toronto, Detroit, Washington, Milwaukee, Miami, Atlanta and Brooklyn

Jalen Smith appeared to roll an ankle. Trying to play through it, but clearly favoring it.

Kudos to Feron Hunt, who I think has been at every SMU home game this season

In the house — undoubtedly getting ready to wave to the crowd — SMU football head coach Rhett Lashlee ... who is currently looking at TWO cell phones at once. Busy guy.

Sitting next to him: Casey Woods, who has been reported as Lashlee's offensive coordinator
