Road Win Streak Ends At Wichita State Saturday

WICHITA, Kan. (SMU) – The SMU women's basketball team suffered a road conference loss for the first time this season, falling 58-47 at Wichita State Saturday afternoon in the Charles Koch Arena. Kayla White led SMU with 15 points but was the only Mustang in double figures.

Trailing late in the third quarter, the Mustangs (11-9, 5-3 American Athletic Conference) went on an 11-2 run to take a 39-36 lead with 10 minutes left to play. The Shockers responded, taking a 43-41 lead before Savannah Wilkinson was forced to the sideline with an apparent injury. She missed the remaining 7:16, and Wichita State (12-11, 3-7 The American) continued its offensive attack, going on a 12-0 run that lasted 4:35 and saw the Shockers take a 48-41 lead.

Wilkinson had eight points and six rebounds when she exited the game. Jasmine Smith made three 3-pointers and finished with nine points.

The Mustangs return home to host Memphis Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Moody Coliseum.
