White Scores 1,000th Career Point In Loss At Tulane
NEW ORLEANS, La. (SMU) – Kayla White scored a team-best 20 points to become the 25th player in SMU women's basketball with 1,000 career points. The celebration was short lived as Tulane came back to win, 67-58, at Devlin Fieldhouse Wednesday afternoon.
The Mustangs (12-11, 6-5 American Athletic Conference) led for 26 minutes and 27 seconds, and held a two-point lead, 52-50, with seven minutes left to play. Tulane (19-7, 10-4 The American) outscored SMU 17-6 the remainder of the game, including seven made free throws in the final 1:52.
White was joined in double digits by Jasmine Smith, who scored 15 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, and Keyanna Warthen scored eight with seven rebounds. The Mustangs shot 38.7 percent from the floor but were limited to two field goals from outside the arc.
SMU plays at Houston Saturday at 2 p.m. to end a stretch of three straight road games.
