6th year seniorscan 6th year seniors like the weathers bros play another year (covid bonus)?
and would they? who is/isn't for sure coming back? how many new players will we have?
Re: 6th year seniorsIf I recall but I may be wrong the only two seniors who could come back are Davis and Nutall. But I may be wrong.
Re: 6th year seniorsThe Weathers brothers and Jasey were able to play this season thanks to the COVID-19 bonus year. KD would be eligible for a bonus season and so would Nutall. I think Tristan Clark would have been eligible this season regardless of the COVID-19 bonus season but don't think he has another year of eligibility.
Re: 6th year seniorsWouldn't Bandoumel also have another year because of the covid bonus year?
Re: 6th year seniorsI skipped over Bandoumel because his eligibility status has never been clear to me. I suppose he would have an additional year but can't say for sure either way.
Re: 6th year seniorsThat would be wicked if KD, Nutall, and Band all came back for another year.
I know KD would be a very small possibility, but I could see Band and Nutall come back. Especially Nutall, since he did not have the season he envisioned to date, could come back for a "do-over". Only way I could see KD come back is if some NBA scouts convinced him that one more year to add some muscle and improve his shot would greatly increase his value for next year's draft. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: 6th year seniors
It is kind of exciting to think about what Coach Jankovich will do with this team next season if everybody does come back especially if he adds another piece or two! Shake It Off Moody
Re: 6th year seniorsSome of these seniors might be ready to move on especially if they have an opportunity to earn a living playing professionally somewhere. NIL could be a factor in some decisions.
Re: 6th year seniorsNIL is definitely a new factor that could change some decisions from what they would have been previously.
Re: 6th year seniorsInterview on CBS 11
https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2022/02/27/smu ... n-scoring/ Kendric says his son will play a huge role in determining his future in basketball. “That’s gonna be the main thing… I know a lot of people saying Kendric leaving after this year… He’s gone… That’s not the case. I have another year and I’m still gonna consider every option. Whatever is best for me, my son, my mother and my family, we’re gonna take that route but whether that means coming back next year or whether that means going Pro – we’re gonna explore every option that’s best for me and my family.”
Re: 6th year seniors
Hope we can "Pony Up" and make it easy for KD to stay and play another year
Re: 6th year seniorsNot to jump into the fire Jank game, but if he goes I think Davis will also.
Re: 6th year seniorsi'm thinking Kendric would like to be here, possibly regardless of the coach for NIL money of $150K-$250K. It would be hard for him to leave for that. But it makes it easier if Jank is here. Does SMU do another redo of this year hoping we can get some bigger versions of Weathers? If we make the tournament and win a game, it will be a lot easier to get good players from the portal.
Re: 6th year seniorsI am genuinely curious where the $150-250k number comes from. Is that going rate for a conference POY or is that just an estimate of what it might take to entice someone who may end up in second round of draft?
NBA min salary is around $600k - so that is minimum of what a 2nd rounder should make - right? Don't get me wrong - I would love to see another year of KD at SMU. But I can't see someone passing up $600k for $150-250. "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Well, to be fair you also have to factor in the cost of education and a potential degree. Shake It Off Moody
