Kendric Davis Earns SMU-Record 21st Career AAC Weekly Honor, 10th Of The Season
IRVING, Texas (SMU/American Athletic Conference) – Kendric Davis was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday. He sets the SMU record with his 21st career AAC Weekly Honor, and extends his season record to 10. The Mustangs are 20-7 overall and in second in the American Athletic Conference at 11-4.
Davis averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 assists and shot 50% from the field (12-24) as the Mustangs split the week, defeating Tulsa 75-61 at home on Wednesday and falling 75-61 at No. 14 Houston on Sunday.
For the season, Davis is averaging 19.3 points (1st AAC), 4.6 assists (3rd AAC), 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals (12th AAC) with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (8th AAC). He is hitting 45.2% on field goals (2nd AAC), 36.1% on 3-pointers and 85.7% at the free-throw line (3rd AAC) while making 2.3 threes per game (7th AAC).
He has been the AAC Player of the Week three times this season and this is his seventh time on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll. He holds SMU records for AAC Player of the Week honors in a season (3) and a career (5). This is his 21st total AAC Weekly Honor, passing Nic Moore (20 from 2013-16). Davis has been on the 2021-22 Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, Wooden Award Watch List, Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List, Lute Olson National Player of the Year Watch List and was a unanimous preseason All-American Athletic Conference First-Team selection.
The Mustangs are 17-4 in the past 21 games, and have a 14-0 record at Moody Coliseum this season.
