Question for those that want Tubbs

Are you worried that this isn't enough of a fresh start? I know often times teams in this situation prefer to bring in an entirely new system and new coach instead of bringing someone else back or promoting from within.

I'm not the most informed in this situation and won't pretend to be, but if we're moving on from the Dement era, I would prefer that we cut all ties and start over with a clean slate.

Your concern certainly is a valid one, but I don't think it's an issue in this case. When Tubbs was here, we were in the midst of the Jeryl/Willie days that had us near the top of the conference. We didn't get to go dancing, but we were winning, and there were people in the seats. The fact that he's been at OU for the last couple of years is vital -- he's retained his Dallas connections, and he also has been working at a big-time national program. If anything, he represents the perfect blend of Dallas ties with major-school success. Tubbs gets my vote.

I don't think its an issue here. It would be at St. Johns or a similar situation where there was a scandal. SMU has great kids/citizens on the basketball team. Not only is there nothing wrong with bringing back a former assistant, with a veteran team coming back next year it should be a huge plus in not losing a season or more in transition.

These appear to be great citizens, but the fact is that a team capable of beating top calibre teams has tanked this year. Lost by 40 to Rice and Boise State. Effort was down to zero. It does raise the character issue in my mind. Great players never quit.
