I will make the case for rooting for Memphis. This, of course boosts Memphis cred for NCAA Tournament, yes, but it boosts the cred of a team that we will likely have to play in our half of the AAC bracket.

If we lose to Memphis in AAC tourney, we are in NIT. Regardless of Houston-Memphis game.

If we beat a boosted Memphis in AAC - a team that would have won 11 of last 12 games, I think that our ticket is punched. 3-0 vs a team that we placed ahead of and who has fewer wins and the committee would have a really hard time taking Memphis and not SMU.

Otherwise, I think our chances of getting in would hinge on beating Houston - and if we did that, we would be an AQ anyway.

We'll be in the same bracket as Memphis 2-3. We can't get to play UH or win tourney if we lose to Memphis. Please beat Tulane on Sunday.

Only really care about our game.

I want Memphis to beat Houston, SMU to beat Tulane. Memphis, SMU and Houston to win QF games. SMU and Houston to win SF games and will be a lot more comfortable at that point. If Houston falls early, then we have to win the conference tournament.

Both UH guards (Shead and Edwards) played 37 minutes last night despite a blowout. Gonna be a tough game at Memphis. Oh, and they won by 10 at Fertita.

It will be a fun game to watch prior to ours.

I am rooting for no OT in the Memphis- Hou game.

Our game is on ESPN+ so overtime in the Houston v Memphis game wouldn't affect our game. As such, that game will end on time.

Houston, wearing my SMU hat. This is easy. Direct competitor for an NCAA slot needs to lose. And there’s really no rooting for conference mates anymore. They’re all just longer-term beauty contest competitors too.

Good point. I’ll root for a Coog blowout followed by a Pony blowout. And lots of Pony fans in FW next week.

Not so sure about that. If SMU beats Memphis 3x but fails to make final, do you really think that AAC will be a 1 bid league?

Would home W vs. Memphis be considered a Quad 1 win for SMU if Memphis beats Houston? Because that would make a big difference as it would change SMU’s Q1 wins to 3-2 vs 2-2 and give SMU another Q1 shot in tourney on neutral floor. That would be reason enough to root for Memphis>Houston.

Memphis is 42 in NET and SMU is 48 in NET so games against them in the conference tournament (neutral court) are Quad 1. We better beat Tulane, otherwise that changes.

Got it - Looks like we would get Cin or UCF likely in rd1 and have to win to play Memphis.

Would our home win vs. Memphis somehow become a Q1 win with a Memphis win vs. Houston? Or is that time-stamped and cannot change?

I don't really know how these quad things work.

If ECu beats WSU today, would ecu jump Cinci in the standings?

If Memphis becomes a top 30 NET team then our home win against Memphis would be Q1.
