Davis Named USBWA All-District
INDIANAPOLIS (USBWA/SMU) – Kendric Davis was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District Team on Wednesday.
Davis' accolades this year include American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, unanimous All-AAC First Team and NABC All-District First Team. He has been on the 2021-22 Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, Wooden Award Watch List, Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List and Lute Olson National Player of the Year Watch List. He was named the AAC Player of the Week three times this season and made the AAC Weekly Honor Roll seven other times.
Davis is averaging 19.4 points (1st AAC, 33rd NCAA), 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals (12th AAC), 4.5 assists (3rd AAC) with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (9th AAC) and hitting 43.6% on FGs (4th AAC), 86.1% on FTs (2nd AAC) and 37.4% on 3-pointers with 2.4 threes made per game (7th AAC).
The Mustangs are a No. 1 seed in the NIT and host Nicholls in the first round at Moody Coliseum on Wednesday at 7 p.m. SMU is 23-8 overall, has won 20 of its last 25 and finished the regular season with a 16-0 mark at Moody Coliseum. SMU went 13-4 in American Athletic Conference play to finish in second.
