looks like we will concentrate on guys who are currently assistants. That certainly fits the budget. Would be nice to find a guy who might stick around rather than bailing at the 1st opportunity. Of course, Dement probably wishes now he had gone after the Tulane job a few years back.

I agree the search committee looks like a group that can certainly help confirm any candidate. Sounds like they may all get a chance to talk to any candidate.

I think it's a great idea to have a couple of players (even outgoing/graduating players) on the committee. They won't be playing for the new coach, but they certainly have a better feel than any administrator/staffer for the reaction the returning players might have to a specific type of candidate, and what attributes in a candidate will be important to the players. SMU has had search committees in the past that, as I understand it, often did not include players. This is a significant improvement.
