Why UT allums DO NOT want Tubbs!!

I have it that some UT fans and/or allumni have personally voiced their opinion(and have weighed in to some committee members) that Tubbs does not know "X's and O's well enough, while ANY and ALL of the other candidates are qualified." What a bunch of bias bunk!!
After the DISD publicly endorses Tubbs coupled with the fact that Tubbs personally out recruited Hopkins away from UT, it is easy to realize the REAL REASON they vote for anyone but Tubbs. Could it be that UT will find Dallas a much harder place to recruit should Tubbs be hired at SMU?
Makes the "Miracle Man" want to hire Tubbs today and let him go to work!
P.S. Why would anyone listen to an opinion from a outsider anyway? Much less...the competition?

You have to figure that if SMU isn't going to make its decision based on what its own alumni want, Copeland & Co. sure as hell don't care what UT fans/alumni want. I have to believe that Copeland and the Committee will consider the opinions of SMU alumni, especially those (Hunt, Ford, etc.) who donate so generously. But ultimately, he's going to hire the coach that he and the Committee think is best-equipped to make the SMU program improve. What the fans/alumni at another school think is meaningless.
I might not want UT (or any other school) to hire Coach Tubbs, because I don't want that school to establish a recruiting advantage. But do you really think DeLoss Dodds would care what I think? Of course not! Hire Coach Tubbs, surround him with an able staff (Lineburg?) of assistants, and let him return SMU basketball to respectability .... and better.

I have a hard time believing this one. Who cares what UT thinks? My guess is that the UT alum do not want us hiring Haith rather than Tubbs. As much as he may have earned his chance I don't see Tubbs getting this job.

I don't care about Longhorn fans. They don't know anything about Tubbs, Roberts, Jones and Wojick, etc. Some of the probably know and like Haith and would like to see him land a head coaching job. Also, one of my personal life mantras is to take anything a Longhorn or Aggie says with a grain of salt.

The community of jock sniffers is pretty close actually. Many longhorns that have access to the top of their athletic program also interface with the same sports headhunters we do - in fact the same headhunters are employed by TCU, SMU, UT, and many others. There is alot more discusion at these high levels between them all then any of us should feel good about - not everyone with influence on the situation has the same agenda SMU should have.
We are trained to believe the atheltic directors make these decision - they are just like business CEO's - they get influenced (told what to do informally) by their "board" of high level donors.
